Prince Double Page Spread Designed By - Haider

Prince was the longest piece of work in my project. I took on board the idea of enlarging quotes and using columns. The picture was taken but was very bright; so with an altering of levels and using the burn tool the main picture was given the professional look. The main spread was very simple and did not justify using space efficiently. I took on board these ideas and did the best that I could.

This is by far one of my best pieces of work. I had a vision and stuck to it! I used bright colours that matched the LOCITI logo. A bright theme was insisted with a blend of images using the vector mask tool. I felt that simplicity was not the only option; spreads could be made in many ways. The whole city idea inspired me to reflect my double page spread as 'busy' as city life has always been described as busy. I used contrasting font colours to make sure my article could be read. I used the technique where quotes were enlarged to increase appearance and professionalism as this was a key feature most spreads had. Here is my spread:

Simplicity was the main idea as the front cover was very complex. I used bright neon like colours with clear fonts for the text. Organisation was a priority and one image was necessary for the page. I wrapped the text around the small image whilst making sure all space was used efficiently.
The simplicity of the page made the whole image look professional. No drafts were made.

Most music magazines use only one picture (featured artist) I decided to make it a bit more complex and blend images together.  Using different levels of brightness and contrast I merged images very in a very subtle way. I kept the same logo adding a glow to the 'Soul' making sure its appeals more than most images. Using colours that were contrasting to the background were priority as the titles displayed were becoming increasingly difficult to read. This was produced with no drafts as I felt that it came out much better than expected.

Iyaz Double Page Spread Designed by - Anisha

When creatind my double pae spread i used contrasting colours to brighten the page and attract my reader, the colours also match the colours shown in the picture of the artist.  I created an interview because it was differnt and we fet that Iyaz was a popular artistswho appeaeled to a wide audience. I decided to go for the simplistic approach placing my text I separate boxes which were slightly translucent to give a sense of "flow". I had to do one draft because I felt that the page was over simplified and seemed a bit boring. I therefore used the paint brush tool and stamped floral designs behind the translucent text boxes.
